Mali Lenoir is a writer who is creating a much-needed space for nontraditional women of color in historical fiction. She has crafted stories that explore the depth and complexity of Black and Brown women's lived experiences and bring them to life in a beautiful and engaging way. Through her writing, Mali is making sure that the often-overlooked histories, struggles, and triumphs of women of color are remembered and celebrated. She is also changing the landscape of fiction by creating characters that are diverse and complex, and that challenge traditional stereotypes. By doing so, Mali is helping to ensure that the stories of all women of color are seen, heard, and respected.
